Climate Neutral Certified

Climate Neutral Certified

it's official. molly mutt is climate neutral!

The Change Climate Project is a nonprofit that helps companies measure, reduce, and offset their carbon footprint.

In order to be certified by The Change Climate Project, we were required to follow a three-step process: measure, reduce, and compensate.

measure

Measure all of the carbon emissions from making and delivering products and services to customers.

Our total 2023 emissions footprint:

1,768 tCO2e

reduce

Develop & implement plans to reduce future emissions over the next 12-24 months.

  • Eliminate all polyester textile across 100% of our indoor/outdoor range of duvet covers. [completed]
  • Begin the transition to 100% organic cotton products by sourcing our first range of products from a GOTS-certified supplier in India. [completed]

compensate

Purchased carbon credits to completely offset our carbon footprint by funding projects like reforestation or renewable energy.

We're backing 3 projects that satisfy 10 of the UN's Sustainable Development Goals — details below.

Indian Bundled Wind Power Project

Indian Bundled Wind Power Project

This bundled 60MW wind power project is situated across 5 sites, which feed into the Indian electricity grid. Displacing thermal power generation, the project's turbines reduce around 102,000 tonnes of CO2 annually.

Envira Amazon Tropical Forest Conservation Project

Envira Amazon Tropical Forest Conservation Project

The Envira Amazonia project spans 39,301 hectares along the banks of the Jurupari River. Its aim is to conserve tropical rainforests and their role as carbon sinks.

Northeastern Argentina Regenerative Grazing

Northeastern Argentina Regenerative Grazing

The project aims to help farmers transition to better grazing practices. These changes are expected to improve the productivity and sustainability of grazing systems, while enhancing soil organic carbon sequestration and reducing greenhouse gas emissions.

Goal 2 Zero hunger

"Create a world free of hunger by 2030."

Food security requires a multi-dimensional approach – from social protection to safeguard safe and nutritious food especially for children to transforming food systems to achieve a more inclusive and sustainable world. There will need to be investments in rural and urban areas and in social protection so poor people have access to food and can improve their livelihoods.

Goal 3 Good health and well-being

"Ensure healthy lives and promote well-being for all at all ages."

The Sustainable Development Goals make a bold commitment to end the epidemics of AIDS, tuberculosis, malaria and other communicable diseases by 2030. The aim is to achieve universal health coverage, and provide access to safe and affordable medicines and vaccines for all.

To overcome these setbacks and address long-standing health care shortcomings, increased investment in health systems is needed to support countries in their recovery and build resilience against future health threats.

Goal 4 Quality education

"Free primary and secondary schooling for all boys and girls by 2030."

To deliver on Goal 4, education financing must become a national investment priority. Furthermore, measures such as making education free and compulsory, increasing the number of teachers, improving basic school infrastructure and embracing digital transformation are essential.

Goal 7 Affordable and clean energy

"Ensure access to affordable, reliable, sustainable and modern energy for all."

Ensuring universal access to affordable electricity by 2030 means investing in clean energy sources such as solar, wind and thermal. Expanding infrastructure and upgrading technology to provide clean energy in all developing countries is a crucial goal that can both encourage growth and help the environment.

Goal 8 Decent work and economic growth

"Promote sustained, inclusive and sustainable economic growth, full and productive employment and decent work for all."

Providing youth the best opportunity to transition to a decent job calls for investing in education and training of the highest possible quality, providing youth with skills that match labour market demands, giving them access to social protection and basic services regardless of their contract type, as well as leveling the playing field so that all aspiring youth can attain productive employment regardless of their gender, income level or socio-economic background.

Goal 13 Climate action

"Take urgent action to combat climate change and its impacts by regulating emissions and promoting developments in renewable energy."

To limit global warming to 1.5°C above pre- industrial levels, emissions must already be decreasing and need to be cut by almost half by 2030, just seven years away. But, we are drastically off track from this target.

Urgent and transformative going beyond mere plans and promises are crucial. It requires raising ambition, covering entire economies and moving towards climate-resilient development, while outlining a clear path to achieve net-zero emissions. Immediate measures are necessary to avoid catastrophic consequences and secure a sustainable future for generations to come.

Goal 15 Life on land

"Protect, restore and promote sustainable use of terrestrial ecosystems, sustainably manage forests, combat desertification, and halt and reverse land degradation and halt biodiversity loss."

We must be respectful toward wildlife and only take part in ecotourism opportunities that are responsibly and ethically run in order to prevent wildlife disturbance. Well-managed protected areas support healthy ecosystems, which in turn keep people healthy. It is therefor critical to secure the involvement of the local communities in the development and management of these protected areas.
